ABOUT THE AUTHOR AND THIS SITE

A PERSONAL RECOVERY GUIDE.
A NEW JOURNEY RECOVERY WAS WRITTEN AND DESIGNED FOR YOU.

In 1994 when a severe low point motivated me to give up my habit of drinking nearly a fifth of hard liquor daily, I began to heavily study books on alcohol and drug addiction recovery with the desire to keep straight and ultimately with the goal of helping other struggling addicts too. My reading turned into an obsession. An extensive 13 year self taught study in the field of alcohol and drug addiction that has included the reading and study of over 300 books dealing with the subjects of alcohol and drug addiction, psychological disorders and family counseling. I strongly feel that my writing of 'A NEW JOURNEY' can truly help you to help yourself. It's written in easy to understand language, taking the complex issues surrounding your alcohol or drug addiction and simplifying it for you. I drank large amounts of hard liquor daily for a little over 14 years. It was an addiction that began when I was 15 years old. My drinking caused me to become mostly isolated from my family and also left me severely unstable both physically and financially. I also spent many years on and off sleeping in my car. My drinking finally me to the point of depression, despair, and complete financial ruin . It's only by luck I feel that I never went to prison.
At the first writing of this book I am nearly 14 years into my sobriety, where as I never imagined I would ever quit drinking. I also experienced nearly every common street drug and had brief addictions to a few of them also. But alcoholism was my main problem. I've briefly taken several SSRI drugs prescribed to me by a psychologist for anxiety and I will explain how these work in a later chapter. I will also explain to you why it is important that you get medication prescribed to you if you are dually diagnosed with a disorder and a substance abuse problem. 1 in 5 are afflicted with some kind of psychological disorder at some time in their life and 1 out of 3 is diagnosed with an addiction be it drugs, alcohol, food, gambling or so on. Everyone is diverse in reguards to the severity of their symptoms and everyone needs to be treated properly for their own unique circumstances and degree of severity. As a child I watched alcoholism destroy my lovely mother to the point of her homelessness and mental instability. Her suffering was very difficult for me to accept. All I could do was watch, worry, hope and cry. It was very difficult to accept. I know the suffering you must be feeling right now. I've experienced alcohol and drug addiction from many perspectives. The it caused my brother, sister and I while we were growing up without a mother and the suffering I caused them, including my father when I spiraled into alcoholism. Thats why I had to write ' NEW JOURNEY RECOVERY'. To help you in your battle with alcohol and drugs, and also to come to terms with my own turbulent and unstable past.
