There are several drugs available to help with your regular treatments for alcoholism. These have shown in extensive studies to aid in reducing the cravings for alcohol. These drugs are not miracle drugs. There is no magic pill available by itself to cure addiction to alcohol. These medications are to be taken alongside your other therapies such as regular attendence in support groups, counseling, behavoir modification, eliminating triggers from your life such as hangouts and people etc. It is discussed that you can and should still take any anti-depressants or other psychotropic drugs that you may be taking along with any one of these two medications.
